Summer Reading Challenge…Final Picks!

***VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!***  See our official Summer Reading Challenge announcement for the winner.

Thanks to everyone who suggested books over the weekend to include in our Summer Reading Challenge.  I’ve narrowed down your picks just a bit, and added one of my own below…so now it’s up to you!

Please choose the one you’d most like to see included in our Summer Reading Challenge, and next week we’ll let you know the final results…as well as the other books we’ve chosen to go along with this one.

To recap, the theme this summer will be time travel, and we plan to cover 5 books that are great reads for 9-12 year olds.  We’d like our books to be something that younger children could listen in to and not be too scared, but which also wouldn’t leave older kids and adults with a horrible taste in their mouths.  But enough from me…time to let your voice be heard!

Which book should be included in our 2014 Summer Reading Challenge?

Time travel makes a great theme for the Summer Reading Challenge! Our homeschool Book Club read House of Arden this year, and it was terrifically fun. After discussing the book, the eight children in our class (ages 9-12 coincidentally) tried their hands at creating poems to summon the Mouldiwarp, as the characters in the book repeatedly had to do. I’ve never seen a group of mostly boys attack poetry with such humor and energy!

I’m not familiar with all of the books, but Time Cat and Tales of Magic are also very enjoyable.

Hard to say without knowing the other four! 😉
