2014 Summer Reading Challenge

Hi all!  Mid-June, we launched out Summer Reading Challenge for families.  Like last year, we chose several books around a theme–this year, time travel–and we’re asking kids to read three books from the list to be entered to win a $100 Amazon gift card.  Teens can choose from List #2, which includes books for older kids.

You can see this year’s book lists in our Introduction.

We have had to make a few changes to our lists this year.  First, we changed our teen lists–if you read the earlier list and want to know why we changed, this post gives an explanation.  We have also added a new book as an alternate for The Blue Comet.  Please see why here.  We realize these are some serious mistakes, and we are changing the entire way we pick our books from now on so that this doesn’t happen again.  We know that you can go lots of places to find interesting reads for your kids; we want to be a MORAL resource within the media onslaught, bringing a Biblical worldview to the books out there for kids.  Thank you for your patience through these growing pains.

Summer Reading Challenge

As we roll along in our summer reading, I’ll post all the resources here.  Remember that the posts labeled “Kids” also contains our interview with Jeff Baldwin of Worldview Academy, suitable for middle readers, teens, and adults.  Our “Teens” posts will often include a discussion with Gina Dalfonzo of Breakpoint Youth Reads.
